Traveler's Notebook Page
To complete the project, you'll need the following:
- An iPad (With iOS 13.2 or later)
- The Procreate application
- A photo (or set of photos) to use for your layout
And, though it's optional, I'd recommend using an Apple Pencil, too.
STEP 1: Plan
In this video, we'll use Procreate to jot down our thoughts and make a general plan for our project. By the end of this step, you should have a sketch that includes: A topic, the gist of what you'll write and how (or if you'll include writing), a good idea about what colors and art elements you want to include, what photo(s) will be in the layout, the general layout, and where to place focus for this project.
STEP 2: Prepare
In this video, we'll create a Procreate Palette for our project to simplify color selection. And, we'll discuss Procreate Layers: What they are and how to use them for memory keeping. Then, we'll create our own layered template—something we can use again for future projects. Finally, I show you how to save your template in the gallery and how to create Procreate Stack to keep project documents together and tidy.
STEP 3: Assemble
After creating a work copy of your template, you'll bring in your photo(s) and art elements. Then, you'll make a title and add your text (if you're adding text, that is) to your project. Meanwhile, you'll learn the "what-how-and-why" of Clipping Masks, Textured Brushes, and making work copies.
STEP 4: Finish + Print
To finish, you'll dial in the focus (e.g., words, photos, embellishments, colors) and add polish. Then, you'll save for print. If you're printing from home, I'll share some tips for how to do that. Finally, I'll share how to add the finished page to your notebook.
